Home sweet home
Doing fine, here, just getting settled in. I’ve actually had dsl since Tuesday, but haven’t had the energy to sit and type something up. All week John and I took turns sleeping on the recliner or twin air mattress, until last night when we finally had our own bed. Finally. Now, this is home.
Our newest struggle is getting Ash to sleep in her toddler bed on her own. Lately, one of us has to sit with her until she falls asleep and this is getting quite old and annoying. I guess the gate is going to have to stay up so she has no choice but to go back to bed, because the 10 or 11pm bedtime is not cutting it.
Off to the gym in a little bit, hopefully getting back on track in that area. I’ve fallen in love with doing laps in the pool lately, so I just plug through my cardio and weights, just to make it to the pool. Back and forth, back and forth, it has become quite refreshing and medicinal.
And maybe, just maybe, I’ll even get some scrapbooking in tonight. I have my colors picked out for the Seattle Trip, but there’s a couple months before then to tackle. I managed a two-page layout a couple weeks ago at a scrap night, yet there’s 70 more pictures to go. At least this is something enjoy doing.

Ooooooooh, that must be soooooooo nice.
Sleeping in your own bed in your brand spankin’ new apartment…*happy sigh*
I had problems with two of mine over the toddler bed. The first one, I had to use the gate, too. It took a bit of wrestling and sleepless nights, but he finally stayed in there with the nightlight on and door open.
Maile…she got out of bed many, many, many times before she finally stayed in there. Same, nightlight, door open. I got so tired of chasing her down, I made up my mind to do this as long as it took: I tucked her in, said her prayers, etc., then left her in there, and I went back to check on her every 10 minutes. Sometimes, she was out of bed again, but it got to where she knew I was there, that I’d be coming back, and she eventually got bored with trying to stay awake.
Over time, I started spacing out my revisitations, and now, I tuck her in, say her prayers, and that’s it.
Oh, and a mobile helps her, too, even though it’s on Sophia’s bed (S. is still co-sleeping). I just turn it on as I leave.
You might try a mobile, or a music box (good one!), or a radio/record player. Maybe one of those flashy light things. Anything that either moves or makes comforting sounds. My friend has a little speaker that makes “night sounds,” like crickets and stuff. Check Toys R Us.

As far as getting Ash to stay in her tot bed, I’m here to tell you there IS no hope. Jake’s still a little stinker about going to bed, even in his big boy bed. We used to lay with him but now he’s not havin’ that. Bedtime is a long, painful struggle in tihs house. ‘it’s just a phase’ Gawd I hope so! LoL
Glad to hear you’re getting settled in.
